Last week the FreeCause Mall team took to the road in their ongoing mission to partner with even more of the top retailers in the U.S. (currently over 1,600 strong). This California leg of our journey took us to the VIP-only Google Affiliate Network event hosted at none-other-than the Googleplex in Mountain View, CA where we started relationships with the great folks at Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Ann Taylor, and BOSE among many others.
Modeled after the popular “speed dating” networking format, over 60 retailers sat on Google-colored plastic chairs and “dated” approximately 125 hand-selected affiliates (such as FreeCause) to see if there was a potential to form a business partnership. Many were excited to hear about our new Mall tools especially since it represented a start to new revenue from the social media space!

No visit to the Left Coast would be complete without a stop at Commission Junction’s headquarters in sunny Santa Barbara, CA. Although weary after over 75 meetings with retailers and account managers from the Google tradeshow and CJ San Francisco office, the FreeCause team powered ahead and held a series of three 1-hour-long meetings with CJ’s top account managers. These were indeed worth the jet lag since the group represented some huge retailers such as HP, Dell Small Business and Apple.
This round of meetings sets the stage for one of the top events in the affiliate marketing industry, CJ University, which is a three-day event set in Santa Barbara every September which draws over 700 high-level marketing attendees. See you there!
