Earlier this week FreeCause sent a team to the LinkShare Symposium NY 2012 held at the Waldorf Astoria. LinkShare Symposium is a premiere event in the affiliate space, bringing together 500+ advertisers, publishers, and industry professionals for 2 days of networking, learning, and fun.

This year FreeCause was pleased to be the Platinum Sponsor for this important event. The sponsorship enabled us to increase our visibility during the event, including having our new VP of Revenue Operations, Trevor Thomas, address the audience during the opening remarks, inclusion of a gift in attendee tote bags (we went with sunglasses which seemed to be a big hit), and premium networking and meeting opportunities. The FreeCause team was also very recognizable throughout the event, sporting our company hoodies (many attendees even stated how jealous they were because of how comfy we looked.)

The Symposium overall was a big success! It provided an ideal opportunity to meet with hundreds of advertisers and publishers, in some cases putting a face to a name or further building relationships. People we spoke to were excited to learn about our advertising opportunities and how we can help publishers better engage and monetize their members. We came away with a lot of strong leads and we’re excited to see these opportunities continue to develop over the upcoming weeks and months.

LinkShare Symposium is also jam packed with plenty of parties and opportunities to network outside of meetings and sessions. From the pre-party which was located essentially in a yard of a church, to the after party which was held on a roof deck bar in Times Square, everyone had a lot of fun.

Overall, LinkShare Symposium provide exactly what we were looking for – an opportunity to reach key advertisers and publishers and let them know more about how we can better help serve their loyalty business needs.

LinkShare Symposium UK Recap

Last week we attended the LinkShare Symposium UK in London, which brings together advertisers and publishers for several days of networking and education. For us, Symposium UK was a great opportunity to meet with top publishers. Over the course of the few days we had more than 30 meetings scheduled and the enthusiasm and interest from the people we spoke to about our technology was truly amazing. The event also provided an opportunity to connect and spend quality time with some of our current partners, which is always a bonus.

At the Symposium we sat in on some of the educational sessions offered, which were quite valuable. For example, we learned about possible cookie restriction legislation that when rolled out would affect publishers in the UK and other parts of Europe, requiring them to present users with an opt in or out option. It was quite interesting to hear in specific detail about how much more strict Europe is than the US and other parts of the world regarding Internet privacy, and how companies who do business there need to adjust.

In terms of a host city, one would be hard pressed to find a better location to hold a conference than London. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world with some of the most amazing culture, markets, food, and people you can find. The Symposium was held at The Brewery which was also phenomenal – perfect layout, plenty of room for meetings and networking, and located in a great part of the city. London is also the home to many major UK publishers, several of which were not able to attend the Symposium. We took advantage of being in the London for the Symposium to schedule meetings with several of those publishers, which also turned out to be very productive and rewarding.

Overall Symposium UK is a very strong event, providing a great opportunity to connect with interesting and innovative publishers. We really enjoyed our time there and are excited to see the developments that will come from attending.

AdTech Recap

Last week, several members of the FreeCause team attended AdTech in San Francisco. The digital marketing and technology conference is one of nine AdTech conferences held throughout the year across the globe. The collection of conferences bring together thousands of marketing, technology, media, and advertising professionals for several days of idea exchange, networking, and education on the latest digital trends and technologies.

Our team traveled to San Francisco with several goals in mind including, learning more about the latest technologies in the digital world, fostering relationships with current and prospective partners, and business development opportunities. Promoting the FreeCause name and story to relevant companies is another important goal we strive for at any event we attend, and AdTech provided a great opportunity to do just that.

Not surprisingly, our team was quite busy in San Francisco. When not taking in one of the conference’s many educational sessions, our team was attending pre-scheduled or impromptu meetings with partners, clients, and industry experts. All total we met with more than 25 of the more innovative and interesting companies in attendance at AdTech. People we spoke to were very interested in our engagement and monetization technology and we fully expect to see some exciting results from those meetings in the near future. Our nights were spent mingling at various parties coordinated by AdTech – with a highlight having to be seeing Coolio perform!

The conference venue, the Moscone Center, provided ample opportunities to meet with individuals for a quick chat or for more in-depth meetings. San Francisco itself was a great host city, as it is also the home of many other current and prospective partners, enabling us to visit with those who may not have been able to attend AdTech. Overall AdTech was a very successful conference, providing numerous opportunities for FreeCause to continue its explosive growth.
